Herbert Harold Jessup

Mr. Herbert Harold Jessup, 75, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born in Surry County on May 23, 1946, to the late, James “Jim” Monroe and Rachel Annie Dollyhite Jessup. Mr. Jessup was a wonderful brother, uncle and neighbor. He was a well-known farmer throughout the community always growing a large vegetable garden. He is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Sue Martin, Judy Jessup, Jyl and James Nichols, Patricia and Larry Bohannon, Pamela and Wade Priddy; a brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Benita Jessup; a niece and several nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Debbie Montgomery. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jessup was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Moorefield Jessup. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Mount Herman United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Diane Harper and Rev. Harry Sherrill officiating. Anyone wishing to pay their respect may go by Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy during regular business hours on Monday, September 13, 2021, and, also on Tuesday until the time to leave for the service. Due to health concerns, the family is requesting that anyone attending the graveside service, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
