Herman Clarence Ball

Mr. Herman Clarence Ball, age 88 passed away Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Ball was born August 9, 1919 in Surry County to the late Charlie and Maggie Simmons Ball. He was a retired service station owner and operator in Mt. Airy for many years and a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Ball is survived by his wife, Wilma Riddle Ball of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Nancy Ball of Elkin; grandchildren Robert Ball, Jr. and wife Eris, Michael Ball and wife Lili, Elizabeth Madden and husband Chris; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Charlotte and Anna Merritt Madden, Sydney and Cama Ball; two sisters, Verlie Sumner and Vernell Phillips, both of Mt. Airy and a sister-in-law Edith Riddle of Winston Salem and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Robert McCrary. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by VFW memorial honor guard post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the church.
