Herman Cecil Jones

Mr. Herman Cecil Jones, 83, of Cana passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Carroll County on June 16, 1933 to the late William Lissie and Lina Mae Cagle Jones. Mr. Jones was retired from St. Paul School and was a faithful member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Edith Annetta Hawks Jones; step sons and a daughter-in-law, Avery Combs, Aaron and Amanda Combs; step grandchildren and spouses, Candice Combs, Keesha Combs Hoffman and husband, Dustyn, Karlee Combs, and Aaron C. Combs and wife, Amber; step great-grandchildren, Maddyson Hoffman, and Layla Hoffman, Amerie Hoffman, Dakota Hoffman and Kenadi Combs; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Vaughn and Eddie, Faye Hardigree; brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin Jones, Perry Jones and Ida, Odell Jones, Donald Jones, Elza Jones and Edith Jones; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Willard; brothers, Naman Jones, Junior “Tub” Jones, Berna Jones, Harlie Jones, and Lynwood Jones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the Jones Family.
