Herschel Edward Easter

Mr. Herschel Edward Easter, 59, of 3211 Flower Gap Road, Cana, VA, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. Mr. Easter was born April 3, 1950, in Carroll County, VA, to Hazel Vaughn Easter and the late Harvey Easter. Surviving are his wife, Debra McAlpine Easter of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian and Sandra Easter of Woodlawn, VA, and Tony Easter of Charlotte; his mother, Hazel Vaughn Easter of Cana; two step-daughters, Jessica Medley and husband, Jacob, of Winston-Salem and Crystal Pios of Waynesboro, VA; and a step-son, Nathan Pios and wife, Alicia, of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Dennis Stanley of Elkin; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Junior Easter, Ronnie and Jeanie Easter, and Roger and Debbie Easter, all of Cana, VA, and Jeff and Tracy Easter of Galax, VA. In addition to his father, Herschel was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Easter, Donnie Easter, and Kenneth Easter. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Johnny Easter and the Rev. Gary Easter officiating. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
