Hester Louise Simpson

Mrs. Hester Louise Wolfe Simpson, 97, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2018, at Ridgecrest Retirement and Assisted Living Community.  Mrs. Simpson was born November 1, 1921, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late William B. and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Jones Wolfe.  Hester retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. and was a member of the Primitive Baptist faith.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Burton Davis of Pilot Mountain; a daughter-in-law, Delana Love Simpson of Ararat; her grandchildren, Tim and Kelly Davis of Pilot Mountain, Rodney and Amy Simpson and Monica Simpson Taylor, all of Ararat, and Kevin and Susan Simpson of Elkin; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edgar Simpson; a son, Carl Brent Simpson; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Atkins Simpson; five sisters; and five brothers.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Jimmy Joyce and Dr. Craig Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Phyllis and Burton Davis at 707 Ararat Road, Pilot Mountain.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Graham Mosley, 1090 Bray Ford Road, Dobson, NC  27017; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
