Hilary James Gallagher

Mr. Hilary James Gallagher, age 76 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at his home on Thursday, January 27, 2022, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 21, 1945, to the late John Leo Gallagher and Marjorie Imelda Donnelly Gallagher.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Dolores Donnelly, Vincent Gallagher, John Gallagher, Arthur Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher, and Philip Gallagher.  James enjoyed golfing, watching movies, and visiting United States sites, especially historical and patriotic sites.  He held the police, military, and medical professionals in high esteem.  He worked for Bullhead City Animal Control and was known for adopting many different pets, even a tortoise.  He will be remembered as a loving dad, “Pop”, son, brother, and uncle.

Mr. Gallagher is survived by three children, Kelley Gallagher-Winton and husband, Patrick of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Ross Gallagher and wife, Maureen of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and Susan Gallagher-Litt and husband, Jeff of Richmond, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Nicholas, Sarah, Kara, Colleen, Noah, and Ella; two siblings, Richard Gallagher and wife, Carol of Telford, Pennsylvania and Denise Boccella and husband, Carmen of Jeffersonville, Pennsylvania, special caregiver and friend, Tori Stokes of Meadows of Dan; Barbara Gallagher of Sellersville, Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews; and his constant companion and beloved dog, Dixie.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Gallagher will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the favorite animal shelter or charity of the donor’s choice.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the arrangements and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
