Hillery Wayne Barker

Mr. Hillery Wayne Barker, 69, of Lowgap, passed away Tuesday morning, April 8, 2025, at his home. Mr. Barker was born June 23, 1955, in Trenton, NJ, the son of the late Hillery William and Vera Lucille Martin Barker. A hardworking man with deep roots in the land, Wayne spent much of his life in the logging industry. As the owner and operator of Barker Logging for many years, he was known not only for his strong work ethic, but also for his commitment to family and the craft he knew so well. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Sharon Barker; five grandchildren, Cloey Barker, Corey Barker, Jazmin Barker, Andrew Logan Barker, and Ethan Gallimore; a great-grandchild, Logan Levi Barker; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Angela and Ralph Snow, Margo and Randell Hamlin, and Janet Burchett; three brothers, Wesley Barker, Daniel Barker, and Ruben Barker; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Sue Shaw Barker; a daughter, Crystal Nicole Barker; a sister, June Barker; and a brother, Lee Barker. In keeping with Mr. Barker’s wishes, no visitation or memorial service will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
