Hollis Wayne Davis

Mr. Hollis Wayne Davis, 72, of Flint, MI, passed away Thursday evening, July 15, 2010, at his home. He was born June 5, 1938, in Genesee County, MI, to the late Frank and Alice Shorts Davis. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Hooker Davis of the home; three daughters, Michele Davis of Mount Airy, Billie Davis of the home and her fiancée, Ricky Kipp of Ronda, and Sally Davis and her fiancée, Darrell Barber, of Jonesville; a son Harold Davis and his fiancée, Lona York, of the home; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Mary Jo Davis of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Alyson Shelton of Mount Airy, Anita Abbey of Elkin, Keely Tharpe of Elkin, Susan McCormick of Mount Airy, Monk and Doodle McCraw of Elkin, J.C. Cook and family of Dobson, Jeff Daughenbaugh of Lowgap, David and Faye Gilmore of Elkin, Bill Walker of Michigan, Austyn and Rustyn Barber of Jonesville, Charles Hodges of Mount Airy, and Mollie Tompkins of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Davis and Dwayne Davis; and a grandson, Waylon Barber. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 18, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Pastor June Haislip and the Rev. Stewart Roten will conduct the service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care in Elkin, the staff of Jonesville Family Medical Center, Pastor June Haslip, Chaplin Stewart Roten of Hospice and to all the family and friends for the love and care given to their husband and father. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospices and Palliative Care, 688 North Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.

Funeral services will be held Sunday July 18, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Pastor June Haislip and Rev. Stewart Roten will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.
