Mr. Homer Bruce Wilmoth, 66, of Dobson passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital after years of declining health. He was born in Surry County on August 21, 1941 to the late Thomas Byrd and Stella Snow Wilmoth. He was a retired farmer and a member of Salem Fork Christian Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa W. and Michael Cauthen of VA.; two grandchildren, Ellie and Aidan Cauthen; three sisters, Reva McDevitt, Katherine and James Current all of Dobson and Carolyn and Clay Filppin of Pilot Mountain; four brothers, Spencer and Maria Wilmoth of Greensboro, Wayne and Edna Wilmoth of Elkin, Tommy and Barbara Wilmoth of White Plains and Michael "Pete" and Imogene Wilmoth of Dobson; two sisters-in-law Hazel Wilmoth of Dobson and Bernice Caligan of Elkin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilmoth was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Wilmoth, Alfred Wilmoth and Don Wilmoth. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Salem Fork Christian Church, where his body will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service with Rev. June Haislip officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Fork Christian Church 2245 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 in honor of Mr. Wilmoth or to Dobson Food Pantry Cooper Street Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Dunmore Plantation and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for the love and support shown to Mr. Wilmoth during his illness.
