Hoover Sawyers

Mr. Hoover Sawyers Age 77 of 108 Hennis Rd. Mt. Airy, husband of the late Bessie McMillian Sawyers passed away Wednesday morning May 9, 2007 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Mr. Sawyers was born July 1, 1924 in Surry County to the late Joe Henry and Mary Agnes Hall Sawyers and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sawyers was retired from Granite Hosiery-Adam-Millis-Sara-Lee Corporation after 37 years of service. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law Rickey and Louise Sawyers of Mt. Airy, one granddaughter Amanda Sawyers of Mt. Airy. In addition to his wife and parents Mr. Sawyers was preceded in death by two sisters Nellie Bowman and Mattie Smith, four brothers Monroe Sawyers, Layton Sawyers, Emmitt Sawyers and Canus Sawyers. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 12, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Flat Rock Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Todd Byrd with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday night 7 to 9 P.M. at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family to assist them with medical expenses. Moody Funeral Home will be assisting the Sawyers family.
