Howard Duane Burchette

Mr. Howard Duane Burchette, age 59, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Ivanhoe, Virginia on October 16, 1956 to the late Howard Lee and Gladys Alley Burchette. Mr. Burchette was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his daughter, Dena Burchette Gertsch and fiancé, Curtis Howlett of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Duane and Tina Murphy Burchette, of Ararat NC; his beloved grandchildren, Statzer Burchette, Nathan Bond, Jacob Hamm, Destiny Burchette, Adam Burchette, AllyAnn Gertsch, Jessica Donathan, Brandy Axsom and Lori Murphy; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Carl, Mildred and Diane; brothers, “Pete” and Robert; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Lisa Donathan and Barbara Kirk; numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burchette was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy Moser Burchette; his beloved son, Trevor Burchette; two sisters, Ann Cox and Carol Lineback. A brother, Walter Burchette. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday March 20, 2016 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Ray Hutson and Davis Smith. Burial will follow in the Burchette Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 to 8 pm. In-lieu-of flowers, contributions may be made to the Foothills Food Pantry 233 Cooper Street Dobson, NC 27017.
