Howard "Motor" McMillian

Mr. Howard Bryan “Motor” McMillian, Jr., age 80, passed away, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Sunday August 23, 2020.  Mr. McMillian was born June 21, 1940, in Surry County, to the late Mr. Howard Bryan McMillian, Sr. and Elsie Strickland McMillian.  Mr. McMillian was given the nickname “Motor” and that became the name everyone would call him for the rest of his life.  Motor bravely served his country in the United States Army, as a mechanic on military machinery, including tanks.  After returning home, Motor worked at Scenic Motors for many years before retiring.  Motor is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Tonya McMillian Inscore and husband Ronald; brother and sister-in-law; Dale McMillian and wife Elizabeth; nieces, Monica Wilhelm and husband Kevin, Traci Griffith and husband Larry; great nieces and nephews, Bailey, Sophie, Josie, Logan, Avery and Reagan.  Mr. McMillian was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Joyce Gayle Jarrell McMillian; parents, Mr. Howard Bryan McMillian, Sr. and Elsie Strickland McMillian.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  Rev Gary Easter will be officiating. Family and friends that wish to pay their respect may do so beginning around 1:00 PM, until time of the service.  Flowers will be accepted, or donation may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina, 27030.  Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the family.
