Mrs. Ida Kathryn Beck, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Beck was born November 16, 1930, in Springfield, OH, to the late Carlton and Juetta Mae Shetter McAdams. She was a nurse, a homemaker, and a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark G. Beck and Delcie Gunnell of Cana, VA, and M. Shane and Amanda Beck of the home; grandchildren and spouses, Terry and Judy Gunnell-Beck of Deep Gap, Scott and Lauren Gunnell-Beck of High Point, and Autumn, Nevaeh and Haylie Beck of the home; a stepgranddaughter, Cristi Mabe of the home; and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Meggin, Carson, Ella and Evangeline Kate. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Claude A. Beck; and a brother, Ralph A. McAdams. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 2:30 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of her son, Mark G. Beck, 910 Peakview Road, Cana, VA.
