Mrs. Ida Mae Johnson McCraw age 93 of Dobson, widow of Matt Moore McCraw, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. McCraw was born in Surry County, May 6, 1913, to John and Nancy Tolbert Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Fork Christian Church. Surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene and Bernard Toone of Dobson; Arlene Edwards of Mountain Park; Elsie Atkins of Dobson; Alma and Bobby Shinault of Mountain Park and Shirley and Kenneth Mustin of Mt. Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, Monroe and Vivian McCraw of Elkin; seventeen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McCraw was preceded in death by a son, Wayne McCraw; sisters, Lillie Collins and Lizzie Marsh and brothers, Elbert Johnson, John Frank Johnson and Henry Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Salem Fork Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Joshua Goocey and Rev. Bill Watson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home where her body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Salem Fork Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 2245 White Dirt Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Surry Community Nursing Center for the special love and care given to Mrs. McCraw.
