Ila Rose Lowe Butcher

Mrs. Ila Rose Lowe Butcher, 89, of Lowgap, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Butcher was born July 28, 1923, in Surry County, to the late Alonzo Lowe, Sr. and Ophelia Kirby Lowe. She was a homemaker and retired from YVEDDI after 20 years of service. Mrs. Butcher was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Butcher of Lowgap and Judy Kenny of Galax, VA; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Tommy Butcher of Lowgap, David and Evelyn Butcher of Lowgap, Donald and Shirley Butcher of Galax, VA, Wade Butcher of Lowgap, and Randy and Tonnia Butcher of Galax, VA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson, Rylen. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Butcher was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Elbert Henry Butcher; a son, Bobby Dean Butcher; a son-in-law, Ronnie Kenny; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Butcher; two sisters, Alene Lowe and Noreen Wilson; five brothers, Eldredge, Siegle, Atwood, Alonzo, Jr. "AL" and Wallace Lowe. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirby Lowe Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church, where she will remain until the time for the funeral service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and care given to Mrs. Butcher. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.
