Illene Viars Higgs

Illene Vrise Higgs, age 89 passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Northern Hospital of Surry County, in Mt. Airy, NC.  She was born in Richmond, VA to the late Ernest Viars Higgs and to the late Cora Dell Pyles.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons Mike Higgs, Eddie Dean Akers, Steven Higgs; sister, Virginia Shockley.  Surviving is her two daughters, Shirley Viars Crabb, and JoAnn Buckmen:  two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Rose Akers, Richard and Gay Higgs; several grandchildren: several great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Ayers.  A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 4th, 2019 at Freedom Gospel Church, with Rev. Randy Parrish officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of her service at 3:00 PM.   Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Higgs Family.
