Ms. Ima Jean Webb Gammons Arrington, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Ms. Arrington was born March 20, 1933, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Charlie Alva and Beatrice Matilda White Webb. She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Ms. Arrington was a compassionate caregiver for ten years of Mrs. Opal Pike. Ms. Arrington is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Rick Durand of Bartlett, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Janet Gammons of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Shane Gammons and his wife, Gina, of Ararat, Angela Riley and her husband, Johnny, of Olin, and Matthew Durand and his fiancé, Lindsey Hays, of Cordova, TN; great-grandchildren, Abram Gammons, Caleb Gammons, and Zoe Riley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Bill Burnett of Fancy Gap, VA, and Ellen and James Hiatt of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Brenda Webb of Fancy Gap, VA; and a special friend, James Schupp of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Arrington was preceded in death by a son, Larry Kenneth Gammons; and the father of her children, Troy Gammons. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. Jon Cawley and Foye Webb, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
