Mrs. Ima Lee McBride Culler, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Culler was born February 26, 1926, daughter of the late Terry Rhone and Gladys Slate McBride. She was a member of Flippin Memorial Baptist Church. Ima Lee retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery, was a longtime employee of Renfro Hosiery, and was manager and cake decorator at the Sweet Shop Bakery. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Iva and Akers Woods of Mount Airy; a son, Mark Anthony Culler of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Shelley King Lowe and husband, Richard, and James Barron King and wife, June; great-granddaughter, Jade LeeAnna Johnson; a brother, James Millard McBride and wife, Margaret, of Thomasville; a sister, Pauline McBride Pell and husband, Benjamin, of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Lorain Lambert of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Culler was preceded in death by her husband, Hansel Culler; a brother, Fred Arnold McBride; and a great niece, Brianna Leigh Wilson. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Tim Burton and the Rev. Darren Slate, and burial will follow in the Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to Flippin Memorial Baptist Church, 1344 McBride Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Skilled Nursing Unit at Northern Hospital of Surry County for their love and care.
