Mrs. Imogene Mae “Jean” Arnder Reeves, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, September 23, 2018, at her home.  Mrs. Reeves was born March 13, 1932, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late George Washington and Ellen Victoria Gates Arnder.  Jean was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is survived by two daughters, Linda Gumpert and Brenda Robertson, both of the home; six sons and two daughters-in-law, Ray Robertson, Dennis Robertson, and Phillip Reeves, all of the home, and Ronnie and Vickie Reeves, David “4 Speed” and Kim Reeves, and Michael Reeves, all of Mount Airy; two grandsons whom she raised, Eric Robertson and Dawn Sheets of Roaring River and Greg and Christy Gumpert of Yadkinville; her other grandchildren, Jimmy Hunter, Jerry Hunter, Lori Weddle, Melissa Collins, Richard Reeves, Justin Reeves, Dennis Robertson, Angie Robertson, Amanda Robertson, Amanda Tanton, Chris Reeves, Brad James, and Brandon James; several great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Emily Arnder Massey and Sherry Walsh; and a special nephew, Alf Arnder.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Robertson; her second husband, Uriah Faw “Monk” Reeves; a daughter, Barbara Ann Hunter; a son, Van Raymond Reeves; a granddaughter, Michelle Reeves; and three brothers, Ray Arnder, Luther Arnder, and Chester Arnder.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Gray Kirkman officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Paige Combs.
