Imogene Leftwich Simmons

Mrs. Imogene Leftwich Simmons, age 85 of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Simmons was born on November 30, 1939, in Surry County to the late Raleigh Oscar and Carrie Lee McHone Leftwich. Imogene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of White Plains Baptist Church for 60 years and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Vaughn and Kenneth, Anita Davis, Lisa Hobernicht and Tracy ; grandchildren, Tyler Vaughn, Ashley Lowe and Matt, Andrew Vaughn and Abby, Hannah Davis and Steven, Holly Hemric and Matt, Austin Davis and Kelly, Alex Davis, Caleb Hobernicht and Hali, Connor Hobernicht and Skylar; Tracy Leftwich, Jimmy Gray Leftwich, Jr. and Patricia, Brandy Leftwich; twenty great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren, special cousin and friend, Shelby Wilcox; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Louis Simmons; a son, Jimmy Gray Leftwich, Sr.; a son-in-law, Wayne Davis; sisters, Zell Rean Leftwich George, Josephine Leftwich Snider; and a brother, Donald Gray Leftwich. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church with Reverend David Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family will receive friends at other times at Barbara Vaughn’s home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
