India Darling Williams Haynes

Ms. India Darling “Dot” Williams Haynes, 85, of 276 Gwynwood Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at her home. Ms. Haynes was born January 19, 1931, in Patrick County, VA, one of eleven children born to the late John Preston and Grace Rorrer Williams. Dot retired from Quality Mills and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. She was affectionately known as “Mama Dot” to her grandchildren and dear friends. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Dean Atkins and Metha Jo Davis, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Willard of Dobson; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Genell Williams of Bassett, VA; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank D. and Karen Williams of Sparta and Joel P. and Margaret Williams of State Road. In addition to her parents, Ms. Haynes was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Johnny Ray Davis; four sisters, Mary Baldwin, Bernice Shafford, Tecora Quesinberry, and Juanita Rogers; three brothers, John “Buck” Williams, Robert “Bobby” Williams, and Jimmy Lee Williams; and a special friend, Joe Durham. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Barry O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Barbara and Dean Atkins at 138 Rawley Avenue, Mount Airy. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by Heather Puckett at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
