Inez Mae Leftwich Belton

Mrs. Inez Mae Leftwich Belton, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Friday at Ridgecrest Retirement Community in Mount Airy, NC under the care of Mountain Valley Hospice. Mrs. Belton was born in Surry County, July 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Lloyd Fulton and Cordella Victoria Johnson Leftwich. Inez will be remembered as a strong prayer warrior as she kept lists of people and situations, she lifted up daily to the Lord. She started working at the early age of 13 in Mt. Airy. She retired from Belk Department Store in Mount Airy where she is remembered for helping many young men with their clothes and Boy Scout uniforms. Mrs. Belton was a long-time member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Perry Hendrix; her granddaughters, Sarah Brown and her husband Chris, and Mary Reid Lancaster and her husband, Michael; her great grandchildren, Campbell and Grayson Brown, and Olivia, Emmett, and Evelyn Mae Lancaster; her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Steve Kallam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gray Belton; sisters, Frances Brown and Henrietta Bingman; brothers, Roscoe Leftwich and James Leftwich. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The Belton family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, 319 Rockford St., Mount Airy, NC 27030 and The Gideons International, P O Box 1506, Asheville, NC 28802. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the Belton family.
