Mr. Ira Oxendine, 83, of Elkin, passed away on Saturday evening December 12, 2009 at the Heritage Care of Elkin. He was born in Robeson County NC on November 23, 1926 to the late William French Oxendine and Gainer Graham Oxendine. He was a retired self employed painter and farmer. He was a member of Second Chance Church were he served as an Usher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Cockerham Oxendine and a daughter Barbara Jean Oxendine. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law Anna and Billy Renegar of Boonville, Irene and Rev. Terry Coe of Dobson, Frances Oxendine of Yadkinville; sons and daughters-in-law Dean and Leslie Oxendine of State Road, David and Michelle Oxendine of Dobson; Ten grandchildren Melissa Reynolds, Summer Ashley, Kelly Oxendine, Sharia Templeton, Heather Grant, Brittany Guy, Ally Coe, Caleb Hutchens, Charlie Oxendine, Sarah Oxendine; seven great grandchildren Kaylin Buffkin, Keyona Reynolds, Riley Templeton, Jaylyn Templeton, Davis Ashley, Blake Ashley, Eden Ashley; one sister Rosellen Oxendine of Fairmont, NC; a special friend Jane Doub of East Bend. Funeral services will be held 6:30 PM Monday December 14th, 2009 at Second Chance Church with burial to follow at a later date at Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Terry Coe, Rev. Butch Holder, and Rev. Allen Jenkins will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at Second Chance Church on Monday from 5:00 PM until time of the service at 6:30 PM. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Oxendine Family.
