Irene Agnes Lambert Goins

Mrs. Irene Agnes Lambert Goins, 93, of Mount Airy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, June 9, 2017. Mrs. Goins was born March 23, 1924, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Jimmy and Alice Reynolds Lambert. Irene enjoyed farming with her late husband, Junior, for many years. Prior to her death, she was the oldest member of True Word Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Lester Taylor of Pilot Mountain and Margaret Cain of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Pamela Goins of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Teresa Marshall and Rhonda Taylor, both of Pilot Mountain, Michelle Lambert of Leesburg, VA, and Renee Sheets and Rebekah Hatton, both of Mount Airy; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner Sheets, Nathaniel Sheets, Ian Yelverton, Sydney Marshall, Sarah Yelverton, Ryland Taylor, Rhegan Taylor, and Hannah Lambert; a sister, Virginia Lambert Thomas of Chapel Hill; a loving twin brother, Lorain Lambert of Mount Airy; and a special niece, Christine Lambert Sparks of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Goins; a son-in-law, Junior Cain; a grandson, Grayson Goins; a sister, Essie Lambert Pack; and two brothers, Rastus Lambert and Curtis Lambert. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. David Joyce, Dr. David Sparks, and the Rev. Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Goins Family Cemetery in Westfield. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Ronnie and Pamela Goins at 1584 Holly Springs Road, Mount Airy.
