Mrs. Irene Fay Bennett Jones, 82, of 149 Boxwood Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Monday afternoon, September 17, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Jones was born March 11, 1930, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Frank James and Nellie Lucinda Quesinberry Bennett. Fay worked in several textile mills, including Quality Mills, Mount Airy Hosiery, and Spencer's Inc., for more than 40 years. In 1987, she became a part of C.F. Jones Classic Café and Ice Cream Parlor at Mayberry Mall, where she worked until 2007. Mrs. Jones was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Coley Fred Jones, Sr. of the home; a son, Coley Fred Jones, Jr. of Mount Airy; a grandson, Andrew Jones of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Lacy Atkins of Mount Airy; a brother, Wayne Douglas Bennett of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by an infant sister, Hassie Bennett; and a brother, Billy Elmo Bennett. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Rusty Reed and the Rev. Dr. James Joseph officiating. Burial will follow in the Quesinberry Family Cemetery in Fancy Gap, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
