Mrs. Irene Dixon Parrish, 72, of Lowgap, entered the portals of heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 26, 1938, in Surry County, to the late Austin and Hattie McCann Dixon. Mrs. Parrish was a retired CNA and a member of Freedom Gospel Church. She leaves to cherish her memory two dearly beloved sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Randy "P Brain" and Gina Parrish of Lowgap and Mark and Lisa Parrish of Dobson; her grandchildren, Amanda and husband Jerry Goedert, Laura and Jerry Hodges, and Doug and Tammy Parrish; five great-grandchildren, Kolton Quesinberry, Zavier Goedert, Jaxon Hodges, Connor Parrish, and Kord Quesinberry; a sister and brother-in-law, Debra Lynn and Mark Mayes of Mount Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Margaret Dixon of High Point, David and Frances Dixon of Woodlawn, VA, and Sammy and Tina Dixon of Lowgap; and a very special friend, Barbara Ramey. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ray Parrish; a son, Dwight Parrish; a brother, Michael Dixon; and a grandson, Jason Parrish. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with the Rev. Daryl Hensley and the Rev. Ray Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 until the time of the service, and other times at her home, 100 Jonathan Drive, Lowgap. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the "angels" of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and the many friends and neighbors for their loving, compassionate care.
