Mrs. Irene "Rennie" D. Simpson, 77, of White Plains, passed away Saturday night, February 14, 2009, at Sunbridge of Alleghany in Sparta. Mrs. Simpson was born June 27, 1931, in Surry County, to the late Oral and Dolly Quesinberry. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Simpson of White Plains; three grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Julie Hunter of Lowgap, Brett William Hunter of Winston-Salem, and Cagney and Eric Nichols of White Plains; two great-grandchildren, Emma Rae Hunter of Lowgap and Conner James Nichols of White Plains; and special friends, Faye and Red Beasley of White Plains and Wayne and Katie Draughn of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lawrence Simpson; and a son, Kenneth Lawrence Simpson. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kermit L. Gray, and burial will follow in the White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
