Iris "Jeanette" Joyce Szappon

Mrs. Iris “Jeanette” Moorefield Joyce Szappon, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Stokes County on August 11, 1938 to the late William Herman and Nonnie Mae Nunn Moorefield.  Mrs. Szappon was retired from Boston Knitting and was a member of Indian Grove Baptist Church.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Love and Mark, Cheryl Frye and Tim, Denise Connelly and CJ; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian Joyce and Misty; grandchildren and spouses, Travis Frye and Nikki, Kurt Love, Tyler Joyce, Cady Fritch and Russell; three great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Gay Martin and Charles; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon Moorefield and Gayle; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Szappon was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Szappon; two sons, Russell Joyce, and Darrell Joyce; sisters, Ann Mauldin, Cookie Jarrell, Frankie Jessup; a brother, Tommy Moorefield.  A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 4:00 PM at Indian Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Eaton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the church.  Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
