Mr. Irvin Harlie Gore, 82, of 637 Old Buck Shoals Road, Mount Airy, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Gore was born November 17, 1927, in New Hanover County, son of the late Albert and Winona Kelly Gore. Irvin retired from Exposaic Wire/Insteel Wire Company and was a member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne Martin Gore of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Joe Livingston of King, Marie and Patrick Hawks and Janet and Trent Childress, all of Mount Airy, and Kathy and Jonathan Sechrist of Westfield; eight grandchildren, Michael Fussell, Jr., Joshua Fussell, Daniel Fussell, Maggie Hawks, Laurie Frye, Jennifer Murray, Brittney Sechrist, and Levi Sechrist; two great-grandchildren, Carson Frye and Zoey Jackson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie Bell and Ernest Daniels of Winston-Salem, and Annette and Glynn Robinson and Ruby and Donald Fisher, all of Wilmington; a brother and sister-in-law, Dallas and Judy Gore of Wilmington; and a special brother-in-law, John Martin of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gore was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Watkins, Leola Smith, Polly Stewart, and Joyce Kelly; and a brother, Albert "Buddy" Gore. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to the Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, 2063 South Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their love and support during this time. Also, they would like to thank the entire staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
