Irvin Donald Ward

Mr. Irvin Donald "Pete" Ward, 72, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center as it was his time for his body to be at peace. Pete, as he was known, was born March 27, 1939, in Surry County, to the late Irvin Dewy "ID" Ward and Nina Cook Ward. He was a retired building contractor. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by two brothers, James Russell Ward and Marshall D. Ward; and two sisters, Jewel Robinson and Shelby Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Julia Ann Collins Ward; two daughters, Tammy Moore (Scott) and Lisa Walker (Rick); grandchildren, Madison and Lana Moore, Lee and Avery Pike, and Jeremy Walker; and three sisters, Melbena Gold (Andy) and Ruth Brown of Williamstown, NJ, and Mary Vernell Musten of Kernersville. The family would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center ICU 2 Unit for their diligence, care and compassion as well as Cindy and Joanie of Acute Palliative Unit for the compassion given to our family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Unity Church, c/o Linda Mitchell, 57 Dan Valley Farm Road, Claudville, VA 24076. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Ward family.
