It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Mr. Ivan Oral Hodges, 61, of Yadkinville, NC after a long battle with COPD. He went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born in Surry County on October 12, 1955 to James Albert Hodges and Marie Brown Hodges Edwards. He was a kind, loving and gentle father. He never knew a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He worked many years proudly as a brick mason and owned his own company, All Aspect Masonry, where he made many friends. He is survived by his children, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Hodges and Noel of Yadkinville; his daughter and son-in-law, Greta Billings and Joe of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Alexis, Caleb, Bailee and Harper; his mother, Virginia Marie Edwards of Cana; three sisters and a brother in-law; Betty Shores of Cana, Charlotte Mayes of Cana, Karen and David Bowman of Galax; a very special brother, Ennis Hodges of Lowgap; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his brother, Eric S. Hodges; and his step mother, Cilo Hodges. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00PM Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Poindexter and Pastor Brad Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday night, January 13, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 6:00–8:00 PM. A special thanks to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for taking such great care of such a loved man.
