Mrs. Ivy Irene Wilson Cox, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, at Ridgecrest Retirement Home. Mrs. Cox was born November 19, 1927, in Surry County, to Sandy and Hessie Cain Wilson. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and retired from Spencer's Inc. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and David Hicks of Mount Airy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Shannon Cox of King, Rusty and Elisabeth Cox of Whitsett, and Jerry and Lisa Cox of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Melissa Hicks, Monica Hicks, Katie Montgomery, Adam Cox, Chase Cox, Spencer Irene Cox, Raymond "Luke" Cox, Emily Cox, and Noah Cox; a great-grandson, Mason Stone; a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bud Atkins of Mount Airy; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Clarence and Geneva Wilson of Mount Airy and Johnny Wilson of High Point. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Eugene Cox; sisters, Ercelle Wright and Dana Beasley; and brothers, Joe Bill Wilson and Rayno Wilson. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 19, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Jimmy Slate. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and the staff at Ridgecrest for their loving care of Mrs. Cox during her illness.
