Jack Benton Handy

Jack Benton Handy, age 84 of Stuart, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Woltz Hospice House. He was born in Patrick County to the late Burley Handy and Mindy Vipperman Handy Hiatt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mayonie Bowman Handy, second wife, Juanita Gay Martin Handy; great-granddaughter, Kendall Brooke Fisher; sisters, Ocie Belle Handy, Delcie Cassady, and Nedie Mae Handy Hiatt; one brother, Larry Hiatt.

Mr. Handy retired from United Elastic Corp. with over 30 years of service. He attended Peoples Church of the Living God. Jack loved his family and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Deal Handy of Stuart; three daughters, Connie Handy Vipperman (Amos) of Patrick Springs, VA, Darlene Hall Edmonds (Shannon) of Stuart, Alberta Blackburn (Roy) of Stuart; a son, Jimmy Lee Belcher of Stuart, VA; six grandchildren, Jennifer Dawn Edmonds Barnard (James), Christian Michael Edmonds (Kellie), Susie Lee Vipperman, Faith Mayonie Vipperman, Heather Younger (Jeremy), and Amber Adkins; eleven great-grandchildren, Emree Grace Barnard, Valley Lou Barnard, Myles Harper Edmonds, Lowen Nathanael Edmonds, Kagen “KJ” Scott Fisher Jr., Kaiden Marquise Younger, Kaylee Grace Younger, Kendall Renee Younger, Kaleb Wayne Younger, Lakelynn Syke Adkins, Derick “DJ” Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Handy will be held, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Bishop Dwayne Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Knowles-Eden Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan, VA. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Tuesday. Mr. Handy will lie in state on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 12:00 until 5:00 at the funeral home.
