Jack Morgan Hicks

Mr. Jack Morgan Hicks, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Hicks was born September 24, 1923, in Surry County, to the late Pete and Alma Sutphin Hicks. Jack retired as a truck driver after 30 years of service from Roy Stone Trucking in Martinsville, VA. He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and a member of the Flat Rock Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gaye Frances East Hicks of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Morgan and Cindy Hicks of Roanoke, VA, David Mitchell and Marsha Hicks of Franklin, TN, Darrell Owen and Cindy Hicks of Lewisville, and John Walter and Andrea Hicks of Maplewood, NJ; two grandchildren, Erin Hicks and Ian Hicks; a sister, Ruth Mack of Columbus, OH; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Katherine Hicks of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 until 11:00 PM at the funeral home.
