Jack Donald Jones

Mr. Jack Donald Jones, 82, of 149 Oak Avenue, Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, October 1, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Jones was born February 14, 1928, in Surry County, son of the late George Peter and Leona Mae Blackburn Jones. Jack retired from L.S. Starrett Company and later worked as an attendant at the Holly Springs Recycling Center. Mr. Jones was a member of The Salvation Army. He is survived by a daughter, Dianne Jones of the home; three grandchildren, Heather Elliott and Dawn Wallace and her husband, Matthew, all of Mount Airy; and Edward William Elliott, III of Wilmington; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Wallace and Kaylee Wallace, both of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Jones and JoAnn Jones, both of Mount Airy; and several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Mittie Francis Callahan Jones; two sisters, Evelyn Jones Beeson and Josephine Jones Kirkman; and two brothers, John Jones and Paul Jones. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Major Michael Rodgers and the Rev. Charles Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
