Jack Leon Joyce

Mr. Jack Leon Joyce, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Joyce was born May 8, 1937, in Stokes County, to Simon Pete and Angie Lawson Joyce. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his loving family and many friends. Surviving are his devoted wife of 56 years, Hazel Watson Joyce of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Donna Joyce of Mount Airy, Ronald Joyce of the home, Mike and Linda Joyce of Lambsburg, VA, and Tim Joyce of the home; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Mozelle Wood-Joyce of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Allene Joyce of Rural Hall and Pete and Janie Joyce of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter, Mondellery Freeman; and a brother, Larry Joyce. A memorial service will be held at Friday, January 21, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Keith Love and the Rev. David Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 until the hour of the service. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and all the fine people at the many facilities who helped with the care of Mr. Joyce during his extended illness.
