James Barker Beck

Mr. James Barker Beck, 60, of 315 Hunters Chapel Road, Ararat, VA, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Beck was born November 24, 1948, in Surry County, to the late George Washington and Ida Frances Arnder Beck. He was a member of Genesis Full Gospel Church. Survivors include his wife, Linnie Houck Beck of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Lynn and Wayne Puckett, Karen Lynn and Wayne Parker, and Mandi Nichole and Robert Whitt, all of Mount Airy, and Deserath Doreen and Mickey Anderson of Lowgap, a son, Jeffery Todd Beck of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Samantha Parker, Barbara Hutchens, Mickey Anderson, Carrie Carpenter, and Travis Carpenter; three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Whitt, Nicholas Whitt, and Shianne Hutchens; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eva Bowman of Pilot Mountain, Annie Mae Hutchens of Mount Airy, Sara Dean and David Dunn of Toccoa, GA, and Rachel Louise and Johnny Stanley of Benson; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, George Alvin and Betty Beck of Lowgap, Ivan Leon Beck of Dobson, and Arthur Raymond Beck of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beck was preceded in death by four brothers, Roby Lee Beck, Robert Wayne Beck, Albert Lee Beck, and Donald Sterling Beck. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Genesis Full Gospel Church, with Brother Ivan Beck, the Rev. Donnie Hooker, and the Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Genesis Full Gospel Church, and other times at the home of Sharon Lynn and Wayne Puckett, 129 High Noon Trail, Mount Airy.
