James Russell Braddy

Mr. James Russell “Jim” Braddy, 66, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday night, March 19, 2017, at his home. Mr. Braddy was born March 27, 1950, in Edgecombe County, the only child born to the late Murray Thomas and Myrtle Ruth Morris Braddy. Jim worked at Perry Manufacturing and was a retiree from the funeral business. He was a dedicated Christian and a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debra Bowman Braddy of the home; his children, Brad and Roxanne Stroud of Rockwell, Dana and Tim Hail of Brownwood, TX, and Sara and Edward Jenkins of Hamptonville; his grandchildren, Erin Stroud and Josie Stroud; an unborn grandson, James Edward Jenkins; his aunt and uncle, Betty and Joe “Dick” Wommack of Lakeland, FL; an aunt, Naomi Braddy of Hobgood; and his cousins, Robbie and Merling Wommack of Lakeland, FL, Gary and Donna Wommack of Vernon, FL, and Larry and Sue Braddy, Thom and Diane Braddy, Mike and Virginia Braddy, Rusty and Mary Margaret Braddy, and Chris and Jane Braddy, all of Hobgood. Jim was also a loving brother to Debra’s siblings and their spouses. In addition to his parents, Mr. Braddy was preceded in death by a special father-in-law, Richard Luther Bowman, Jr. A service of celebration and praise to God for Jim’s life will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Home Instead Senior Care and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
