James Franklin Branch

Mr. James Franklin Branch, 76, widower of Mrs. Helen Christine Shelton Branch, of Dobson passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday August 13, 2008. He was born in Surry County on May 18, 1932 to the late Jesse Branch and Ola Mae Callahan Brindle. Mr. Branch was a retired Store Room Clerk from Hamilton Beach Proctor-Silex after 35 years of service and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Surviving are his mother, Ola Mae Callahan Brindle; two daughters and sons-in-law Ardella and Armon Tyndall of Elkin and Patricia and Gary Overby of Mt. Airy; five grandchildren, Danny Cockerham, Lisa Johnson, Heather Overby, Christy Absher and Jared Overby; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Cockerham, Joseph Cockerham and Kaitlyn Absher; three sisters, Lucy Stanley of Elkin, Faye Webster and Stella Seagrove both of Apex; a brother and sister-in-law, Elder Willie and Joann Branch of Mt. Airy and a special cousin and friend, Margie Joyce of Mt. Airy. In addition to his wife and father, he was preceded in death by a sister Beulah Marion and seven brothers, Johnny Lee, Bobby Jesse, Calvin, Columbus "Lum", Norman, Arnold, and Herman Branch. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating and burial to follow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday August 14, 2008 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home and other times at his home at 149 Reece Road, Dobson. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Mount Airy Dialysis Center, 1280 Newsome Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Special thanks to the staff of Mt. Airy Dialysis Center for all the love and compassionate care shown to "Tater Head" while undergoing his treatments.
