James Thomas Brim, Sr.

Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Brim, Sr., 87, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at his home on early Saturday morning, July 28, 2018.  Mr. Brim was born November 3, 1930, in Surry County, to the late Charlie Wooten and Bessie McGee Brim.  Tommy proudly served our country in the United States Army.  Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Kathy Brim; a son, James Thomas “Jimmy” Brim, Jr.; his grandchildren, Danny Speer, Jammie Townsend, Tammie Payne, Scottie Speer, Heather Speer, William Wheeler, Victoria Dockery, and Mandy Crutchfield; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lucille Brim; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Brim was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie McCraw Brim; a daughter-in-law, Myra Lynn Holder Brim; a great-grandson, Morgan McDuffie; and two brothers, Joe Bill Brim and C.W. Brim.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Pastor Scottie Speer officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
