James Burton Davis
Mr. James Burton Davis, age 87 of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Davis was born on October 21, 1936, in Surry County to the late James Childs and Eva Atkins Davis. He worked for many years as a machinist at Westinghouse and was a farmer along with his family. Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife of many years, Phyllis Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Burton Davis and Kelly; his adored grandchildren and their spouses, Maggie Benge and David, Jack Davis and Kaylin, and Mollie Dickenson and John; great-grandchildren, Nora Kate, Archie, James, Charlie, Brinleigh and Lorelai; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia Collins and Joe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex Allen Davis and Leah, Charles Leon Davis and Judy; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Carl and Hester Simpson; brother and sister-in-law, Brent and Jeanette Simpson. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 2 PM at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Elder Jimmy Joyce officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017, New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jeff Needham 893 Ararat Road, Pilot Mountain NC. 27041, or Eldora Handicamp c/o Kevin Simpson 1994 Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, NC. 28621.
