Mr. James Newton Carns, 40, of 2032 Woodland Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at his home. He was born September 16, 1970, in Silver Spring, MD, to Charles Edward Carns, Sr. and Thelma Pack Carns. He was an employee of Fresh Market in Winston-Salem and a member of Mount Airy Church of God. Surviving are his wife, Laura Sullivan Carns of the home; three step-children, Jillian Natalie Sullivan of the home, and Jordan Jenkins and Morgan Jenkins, both of Mount Airy, MD; his parents, Charles Edward Carns, Sr. and Thelma Pack Carns of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles Edward Carns, Jr. and Dawn M. Carns of Mount Airy, MD; and three nieces, Sarah Carns, Kasey Carns, and Hannah Carns, all of Mount Airy, MD. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Mount Airy Church of God, with the Rev. Charles Powers and the Rev. Larry May officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mount Airy Church of God. Flowers will be accepted, or the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Moody Funeral Services, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030 to assist with the funeral expenses.
