James Montgomery "Monty" Carpenter

Mr. James Montgomery "Monty" Carpenter, 48, of Mt. Airy NC passed away at his home Saturday, May 24, 2008. Mr. Carpenter was born in Surry County on March 13, 1960 to Peggy Elizabeth Childress Carpenter and the late James Roland Carpenter, Jr. He is survived by a daughter, Carrie Goad of Hillsville, VA; a son, Travis Carpenter of the home; his mother, Peggy Elizabeth Childress Carpenter of the home; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Jeff Marion of Rural Hall, Becky and Jimmy Tomlin of Greensboro; grandmother, Devader Childress of Dobson and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be conducted on May 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Robert McCrary. The family will accept friends at the home of his mother, 237 Western Carolina Dr, Mt. Airy immediately following the service. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is assisting the Carpenter family.
