James "Carson" Hopkins

James "Carson" Hopkins, 78, of 1300 Virginia Street in Eden, passed away Monday evening, October 8, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 12, at 11 AM, with visitation from 10:00 ~ 11:00 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with burial at a later date.

Mr. Hopkins was born February 8, 1940 in Patrick County, VA, to the late Oscar Lee Hopkins and Lillie Belle Craig Hopkins.  He was a retiree of the Virginia Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Norma Hancock Hopkins of the home;  daughter, Pam Stafford and husband, Mark of Kernersville;  two sons, Kenneth Hopkins and wife, Denise of Patrick Springs, VA and Mike Hopkins and wife, Debra of Buffalo Ridge, VA;   four step-children, Teresa Shorter, Doloras Craddock (Wayne), Tammy Shorter, and Gary Shorter;  six grandchildren, Ashley Roberson, Riley Roberson and wife, Christin, Amber Lilly and husband, Zach, Austin Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins and Sydney Hopkins; two step-grandchildren;  three great-grandchildren;  and one step-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Lee Hopkins, Clarence Hopkins;  and "sister", Lucy Hopkins.
