James Thurmond Carter

Mr. James Thurmond Carter, 80, of 394 Skyview Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, October 26, 2009, at his home. Mr. Carter was born August 21, 1929, in Forsyth County, to the late Willie and Ethel Dull Carter. He retired from the Mount Airy City Schools as principal at Jones Elementary School and later at Tharrington Elementary School. Mr. Carter was a member of North Main Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Harper Carter of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jon Alan and Nanci Carter of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Zachary Alan Carter and Carrigan Alisa Carter, both of Nashville, TN; and a brother, Cecil Carter of Mocksville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Gae Carter. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Robert Geisbers officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Warners Chapel Church of Christ in Clemmons. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
