Mr. James Allen Flippin, of the Primitive Baptist Faith, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2021, at the age of 81. James was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Edith Scott Flippin and his siblings Lovell, Alvin, Lelia and Lucille. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Vicki; his two sons, James (Stefanie) Flippin and Danny Ray Wood and his brother Roy (Frankie) Flippin. James called Mount Airy home for over 63 years working at both Proctor-Silex and Kentucky Derby Hosiery for 43 of those years. He was a godly, Christian man, who loved life, his family, his friends, and all of his four-legged babies. He enjoyed the thrill of a good flea market find and restoring a broken bicycle to its former glory. He also loved to beat his son in a game of checkers. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with burial to follow at Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery. Elder Avery Branch, Elder Rodney Marshall and Rev. Robert McCrary will be officiating the service. Mr. Flippin will lie-in-state at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Korners Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery fund, c/o Roy Flippin, 225 Hilda Drive, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030 or to Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 818 Old Lowgap Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina, 27030.
