James "Howard" Griffith

Mr. James “Howard” Griffith, 82, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy.  He was born in Botetourt County, VA on April 7, 1938 to the late Denzer James and Georgia Mae Underwood Griffith.  Mr. Griffith retired from Proctor’s.  He is survived by daughters, Mary Ada Griffith, Betty Ann Rakes; grandchildren, Robert Eugene Easter, Christopher Dale Easter, Jeffrey, and Hazel Rose Rakes; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Gail Martin; brothers, Harley Jr. Griffith, Walter Raymond Griffith, Kenneth Lewis Griffith, and David Lee Griffith; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Ada Martin Griffith; sisters, Irene Cockerham, and Barbara Ellen Vipperman; brothers, James Denzer Griffith, Calvin Wayne Griffith.  A graveside service will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Ricky Easter officiating.  There will not be any formal visitation at the funeral home.  Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
