James Dewey "J.D." Hale, Jr

Mr. James Dewey "J. D." Hale, Jr., age 67 of Mt. Airy, widower of Helen Mae Collins Hale, passed away Monday, January 08, 2007 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC. Mr. Hale was born in Surry County, June 4, 1939 to the late James Dewey Hale, Sr. and Lonnie Mosley Hale. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a former Mt Airy Police Officer and Surry County Deputy and was retired from Bassett Furniture. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Rodney Ayers of Lowgap; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Hale of Dobson; Michael and Melissa Hale of Westfield; six grandchildren; one step grandchild; two great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda H. and Roger Haymore of Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hale was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Theresa Ann Hale. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy by Rev. Kenneth Jessup and Rev. Randy Bartley. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Garden with full Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard, Mt Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mtn. Post 9436. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter Carolyn, 3163 Pine Ridge Rd, Lowgap.
