James Roosevelt Holt

Mr. James Roosevelt Holt, age 85, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born in Surry County on January 24, 1937, to the late James Austin and Lula Belle McBride Holt.  He was a man of strong Christian faith, as well as a wonderful husband,  father, and grandfather who was loved dearly by all his friends and family, and folks who knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 62 years,  Ruth Collins Holt; children, Robin Howard and husband Keith, Theresa Coalson and husband Brad, Michael Holt and wife Becky, Melissa Athey and husband John, and Susan Robertson; grandchildren, Sam Holt, Taylor Coalson, Nathan Holt, Savannah Holt, Sydni Coalson; great-grandchildren, James Lee Holt, Paisley Holt, Locklon Holt.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by sisters, Flora White, Kathleen Tickle, Carrie Lawson, Lena Holt Capenter, and Delphie Holt.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Salvation Army Church with services conducted by Lieutenant Jeff and Lea Brooks.  Burial will follow in McBride Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 PM until time for the service at the church.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
