James (Jim) Fletcher Yokley II, 66, of Jonesville NC, passed peacefully Sunday January 26, 2025. Jim was born July 9th, 1958, to Oscar (Bud) Hoyle Yokley Jr. and Clara Jacquelin Springthorpe Yokley, the only son with three sisters. Jim was very loyal to his friends, larger than life with the stories he spun from the adventures he had experienced. Jim embraced the Blue Ridge Mountains. He spent many hours exploring its backwoods paths and befriending everyone he met along the way. Jim also worked in construction doing industrial painting, confined space entry, and as a mechanical technician for Winston Salem's downtown hotels. A talented mechanic, he had a gift of seeing how to fix many things. Jim loved music festivals, everything from backyard get togethers to large events with national artists. Jim would help set and wire the stages, meeting many musicians along the way. Jim graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1976, with classes at Surry Community College. Jim is survived by his three sisters, Mary Emily Yokley Cooke, Elizabeth Bland Yokley Tickle, Laura B. Yokley, his niece Mary (Tickle) Helm with son Lucian Helm, his nephew Michael Tickle, his wife Becki and Becki's children Joseph, Emily & Gwen Davault. Nieces Sonnie Cooke Hardy, husband Stan and their son Zane Hardy, Stacy Cooke Smith Carroll, husband Rick, Stacy's children Sophie and Porter Smith. In Jim's final days his good friends stood by his side, gave him comfort and watched over him. Special thanks to Abby Wilmoth, RC Stamper, Robert Osborne, and Greg Scott. Jim considered all his many many loyal friends, his very best family. Jim loved the persimmons at his childhood home, each year he would gather the wild crop and make persimmon pudding from a family recipe. Jim's final wish is granted to rest in peace in the mountains he loved underneath a wild persimmon tree. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on March 1st, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Sarah Morris officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at the church.
